The landscape for Raffles Institution is envisioned as a rewilded campus, where nature becomes a space for recharging and reconnection. Through forest-inspired environments, students are invited to step away from daily stressors and technology, discovering moments of calm, reflection and renewal. Native forest species and restored ecosystems are woven throughout the school grounds, enhancing lushness, biodiversity, and ecological resilience. These living landscapes cultivate a sense of wonder and empathy for the natural world, encouraging deeper connections with nature.
Immersion Forest
An 'Immersion Forest' garden has been created within the school compound, providing a natural, serene environment that promotes relaxation and connection with nature.
Cascade Garden
The Cascade Garden features a naturalistic cascading water element, created using a series of rock steps and ledges. This design allows water to flow gently and soothingly through the garden, helping to aerate the stream, support aquatic life, enhance water quality, and contribute to the overall ecosystem.
Marshland Habitat
Transforming a typical courtyard into a natural marshland habitat with shallow water, wetland planting and diverse aquatic species. A boardwalk and observation decks allow students to explore, rest and experience nature up close.
Campus Courtyards (The Root & The Branch)
The campus courtyards are being transformed into a series of nature-inspired gardens, featuring a serene dragonfly pond, quiet resting corners, a communal gathering deck, and meandering walking trails offering students a peaceful retreat from the stresses of academic life.
